manual therapy

Our physiotherapists are members of the Ontario Orthodpedic Division and have done advanced courses and training in manual therapy. This includes using our hands to feel muscle and joint dysfunctions, as well as using joint mobilizations and manipulation in some cases. We also prescribe home exercises to help improve your range of motion, and strength between treatments.

IMS/Dry needling

Dry needling is a skilled technique performed by trained physiotherapists aimed at managing neuromusculoskeletal injuries and pain while addressing movement dysfunction.  Dry Needling utilizes a thin filiform needle to penetrate skin, fascia and muscles to address adhesions, trigger points and connective tissue to speed healing and relieve pain.  Functional application focuses on decreasing muscle hypertonicity, increasing joint range of motion, and correcting movement dysfunction. This is an exciting therapy that often accelerates the healing process, since our patients are able to return to active rehabilitative exercises faster due to having less pain and muscle tension.

shockwave therapy

Radial pressure wave therapy is a modality that is used by doctors, and health care practitioners in both sport medicine and rehabilitation. Radial shockwaves help to reset the healing in affected tissue.  It increases the metabolic activity around the painful area. It stimulates reabsorption of unwanted calcium deposits in tendons and stimulates the body’s natural healing process, reducing pain. It is an effective alternative for people with chronic pain from soft tissue conditions. The benefits of having shockwave therapy is reduced pain, increased metabolism, revascularization, and reduced muscle tone. Typically this treatment is done in 5 treatments over 12 weeks.

massage therapy

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including, muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage Therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions. We have 2 Registered Massage Therapists to choose from, and they have many different techniques to help assist with your pain and other conditions.

fascial stretch therapy

Fascial stretch therapy improves the mobility of your nerves & the flexibility of your muscles and fascia by focusing on the fascial lines that connect through and wrap around muscle, nerves, organs, and just about everything else in your body. It can help with pain, mobility and compliment traditional therapy (physio, massage) very well. We are excited to be able to integrate this in our clinic.

Chiropractic

We are excited to introduce Dr. Carly Wilson DC to our team of health professionals. The main form of treatment chiropractors deliver is called an adjustment – a non-invasive procedure consisting of a precise directed movement to help relieve pain and discomfort, and restore range of motion. Dr. Wilson will also use other therapies in combination or alternatively like acupuncture, massage, heat, laser and ultrasound.

A chiropractor does not prescribe drugs or perform surgery, but may make a referral to medical specialists for such treatment when appropriate. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors also counsel patients regarding nutrition, lifestyle and exercise.
